Artist Statement

 My name is Ashley and I’m a 20 year-old Filipina/Romanian girl living in Yonkers. My father immigrated to the U.S. from Romania and my mother   immigrated here from the Philippines. Since I was young, I’ve always loved creating: writing, sketching, doing makeup. I went to a strict Catholic elementary school, and always got in trouble for wearing makeup, and in high school, I always got in trouble for drawing in class. My family continually persuades me to be a lawyer, or work in news, or within a magazine company, but those ideas only made me realize that's exactly what I don't wish to do. The one thing that’s never changed about what I want to do in life is; I want to live a life where I am constantly creating in the way I want. No restrictions. I want to directly inspire people, and move people the way people I adore move me.
