Artist Statement

 My name is Ashley and I’m a 20 year-old Filipina/Romanian girl living in Yonkers. My father immigrated to the U.S. from Romania and my mother  immigrated here from the Philippines. Since I was young, I’ve always loved creating: writing, sketching, doing makeup. I went to a strict Catholic elementary school, and always got in trouble for wearing makeup, and in high school, I always got in trouble for drawing in class. My family continually persuades me to be a lawyer, or work in news, or within a magazine company, but those ideas only made me realize that's exactly what I don't wish to do. The one thing that’s never changed about what I want to do in life is; I want to live a life where I am constantly creating in the way I want. No restrictions. I want to directly inspire people, and move people the way people I adore move me. Amongst the many other things that I’d like to do in life, I want to be a YouTuber. YouTube is a platform that allows you to reach out to the whole world. I want to use this platform for beauty videos as a whole, makeup, vlogs, activism, and to freely express myself. With the ongoing growth of social media, I've found that this choice suits me both passionately and economically. I feel heavily inspired by anime, fashion, various genres of music, and try to find inspiration within everyone I meet. I also want to produce music, and eventually start my own fashion line. I believe life is too short to limit yourself to one occupation, or one title. Life is too short to do anything besides follow your passion and dreams. I believe that any hobby can be turned into a career, it’s just a matter of how hard you want to work.
